Short Description

Long Gone Days is a 2D modern-day military RPG set in our current times, with a focus on language and cultural barriers, inspired by classic dystopian literature and visual novels.

After being deployed to his first mission, Rourke leaves The Core's base for the very first time, only to discover the dark truth about the operation he's part of and the consequences of deserting an inescapable war.

With no place to call home now, he must prevent the war from spreading any further, forming strong bonds along the way that will forever change his life.

  • Communication is Key: As Long Gone Days is set in the real world, you'll encounter several language barriers. Recruit interpreters in order to communicate with others.
  • Keep Morale High: Choose dialogue options wisely as they impact your party members' Morale, affecting how they perform during battles. While doing so, keep in mind every character has different personality traits and motivations.
  • Sniper Mode: Long Gone Days has two battle systems. Using Rourke's rifle, spot your enemies and take down your targets.
  • No Random Encounters: Long Gone Days features front-view turn-based battles with body-targeting system, and every battle is directly related to the plot.

Got the game years ago in a bundle but only now got around to playing it. I loved it! I especially liked the story and the multinational cast of main characters. The artstyle is also very unique and pretty. Played through the entire game on steam deck and didn't encounter any technical issues. Thanks a lot for creating this!

(+1)

Amazing! Words can't express the beauty of this game. Great audio, visual arts and especially the story! If you're like me, and get emotionally tied to characters, you will love this. I loved the ending. Spent total of 15 hours, and I'm really happy that there are a lot of secrets for the map explorers. That was surely worth all the years of the development.

At the beginning, I was ready to abandon this game, but when the story started to change I realized this is not a typical soldier simulator.. This game is a lot more than what is shown on the screenshots and whatsoever!

Just finished the game. Great work! Looking forward to what you make next!

Is there ever going to be a mac port? I played on my Macbook a couple years ago and want to play the full game now but I'm not able to :(

(+2)

Did the mac version of this game get taken down? I was playing this game and wanted to get back into it but I see now that it's become a windows only game and I'd really like to finish it but I don't have the hardware for a windows download :(

Holaa! Soy yo o el juego ya no esta disponible para mac? ;-; justo me lo iba a instalar para jugar la version final T-T ni modo (rompeladompe)

Hi! I bought this game as part of a bundle some years ago, and was going to finally try it out, but whenever I download the file for windows it says its damaged.

I'm having the same problem for mac

I've been checking some things and I think it's just that my internet right now is horrible.

Hola!

I finally finished the game!! I've been playing and replaying this game since 2020. I am so proud of everyone for finally releasing the full thing! And man was it a blast.  I can see so much improvement, especially with the menu UI. That was a treat to see. It didn't feel like I was over encumbered with random crap I'll never use unlike the previous builds. The thing that stuck out the most to me is I somehow missed the NPC that gives you the quartz watch, unless they were removed (or never existed in the first place and I'm misremembering). Which is a shame to me and me alone since that item was the first bonus equipment you got. I always treated it as my lucky item through my runs, so imagine my surprise when it came up as an item for finishing a battle! ALSO I didn't know that one quest needed low morale until this full playthrough so I must've been awful at keeping morale up lmao. Again amazing game, definitely would suggest to people who like compelling stories, awesome graphics, and fun turn based combat. I wouldn't call it challenging since I did not lose a single fight, only had 3 characters down through full playthrough, and had spare revive/healing items by the end of the final boss fight. But all of that could be because I replayed the game every time a new chapter was released so knew the strats/boss tactics. Anyhow, excited to see if this title ever gets sequels/prequels and what the team plans for games in the future!!!

Hello! I'm replaying the game for the first time since release (super excited to revisit these characters :) ). Two questions: Is there a way to see morale? Additionally, are achievements Steam-only, or is there a menu for them in the game too?

(+1)

There's currently no way to see Morale. By design we considered it better to kept it hidden, but after lots of feedback from our players, we're considering how to implement it in a visual way.
For now, achievements are only available on Steam, Xbox and Playstation.

Hi, is there a way to quickly lower (and possibly re-raise) Morale? I'm in Kiel and there's a quest on Day 3 (Nighttime) that I found is only available with low Morale. I'd love to keep 100%ing every area, so if there was a cheat or something I could use to dump my Morale it'd be great :')

(+1)

It's intentional that there's no way to quickly change your Morale as it affects the characters personality, so it would look a bit inconsistent. After a lot of feedback from our players, though, we're thinking of making some changes to the Morale requirements so that people can 100% every area.

Les quedó wenisimo, ojalá haber comprado el juego aparte de un bundle, recién vi que no puedo canjearlo en steam ajskdakj
¡Felicidades por el Full Release!

How can i migrate my save data from the old version to 1.0.0?

My old save is in “AppData/LocalLow/BURA” but the new version saves to “AppData/LocalLow/This I Dreamt”. Are the saves compatibles at all or i’ll have to replay the game?

Edit: Someone asked the same on the steam forum

Unfortunately, old saves no longer work because several internal changes were made, and the game would crash.

Gracias Camila por tu respuesta. No es lo que quería pero se entiende completamente.

Al menos ahora puedo ver todo lo que cambió entre el EA y el final :D

Hello there.I just wanted to say thank you for lowering the price for the switch.-release right on the release day, making it 5€ cheaper. Nice move. I actually pre-ordered the game full-price some days ago and feel a little bit cheated now. As I said: Nice ass move. It really makes me not to want to buy your next game. :(

(+4)

Congratulations on your full release!

Really excited to play it now :)

Is there an option to link it to my steamaccount so I can update the game via Steam?

Cheers!

(+1)

Thank you so much! If you bought the game on itch, you'll find an option to redeem your Steam key. If you got the game through a bundle, it doesn't come with a Steam key, though (this is done to prevent people from reselling the games from these massive bundles, sorry about that!)

Congrats on your release! Does it work for the newest macOS system? I've tried opening it and I get a message saying it's damaged and can't opened. I can run the early access version just fine tho.

I have an older macOS system and sadly it's the exact same case for me.

oof

Hi there! We just uploaded a new Mac version that should fix that issue!

(+3)

Thank you so much for reporting this! We're looking for a fix right now, we'll try to have it as soon as possible!

Thank you for responding so quickly! However the new file still does not work. Is there a specific place I can report bug reports?

Oh no, I'm sorry to read that! We'll continue looking for a fix. This is our bug report form: https://forms.gle/RCfQA4JRTCtHkUN7A

Hi there! We just uploaded a new Mac version that should fix that issue!

(+3)

I am so exited that we have a release date! I loved playing this game.

Hello, How do I update the game if I already own it?

(+2)

This game looks awesome! I really love the art style! militarily  is not a theme I usually like to explore in games but I absolutely want to play this game!

Wine still can’t run it on Linux :/

(+1)

I’m using the Lutris fshack 7.2 runner and has been working well since the last verion and 1.0 too

I have the game on here but im now on linux steamdeck. how can i play this?

(+2)

Hey! A few weeks late, but I can help. Lutris on Steam Deck now has Itch compatibility, so you can install and play the game that way. You may need to manually select the exe though. I've been playing it that way.

I noticed that Adair has Poland flag! :) Wow, I didn't expected that.  Greetings from Poland.

Really loved everything about this game!

Fantastic game - especially loved the audio design and animations both in and out of battle. Appreciate how the game integrates different languages and the need for interpreters. Thanks for all the great work, can't wait to play the final chapter!

(1 edit) (+2)(-1)

Considering the burnout issues you had a while ago I won't ask when you think the game will be done. However, if possible, I would like to know 2 things. Is the game still in active development? And which parts of the game are finished, and which are still to be worked on?

This game is absolutely fantastic, I've loved everything about it so far! I'm extremely excited to see how the plot will continue forward from here.

Just a few items of feedback, the game feels like it could use some quality of life adjustments. Showing your party's active buffs, being able to compare weapons when equipping, displaying % chances for random effects are some I noticed in terms of combat. Improved settings would also be greatly appreciated; a way to toggle sprinting is really needed because my fingers hurt from holding shift so long lol. A way to adjust dialogue speed and controls for ease of use would also be great.

These are just a few of the aspects which I feel need a little bit more polish, but these are also relatively easy to overlook considering how enchanting and real the story feels. My heart really goes out to the developers for this amazing and unique work.

(+4)

Is the game still in early access?

(1 edit) (+2)(-2)

I was incredibly surprised by the writing here, and the pixel assets are fine and do the job of giving you an environment to traverse but the hand-drawn art assets are top knotch. They're used infrequently but when they come up they really set the tone. Got this in the bundle for Ukraine and instead of getting bad writing I got an interesting story with somewhat clunky combat about someone wrapped up in a conspiracy thriller that takes them all across Europe running into difficulties with language barriers and different cultural customs while political drama unfolds all around you, and you're trying to piece it together.

The combat feels awkward, but its entirely forgivable since you spend so little time interacting with it. The game is simply not about that part, and it serves as a decent break from all the other stuff you generally get up too during the game. Recommend, but don't expect it to be a hype train of constant action. If you want an interesting story and great artwork this is for you.

Thanks for putting this in the bundle because otherwise I'd have never heard of it. Now to figure out when the next release is so I can keep playing it.

(+2)(-1)

A must-have for the players who enjoy military topics and anime-style visual novels. Long Gone Days has very high-quality work on its cutscenes, character animation, combat system, and pixel art. And most important: the story is very catchy.

(+1)(-1)

Thank you so much, we're glad you enjoyed it!

(+5)(-1)

I managed to download this game and play it, it was honestly amazing, however I haven't been able to find the steam key to add it to my Steam library, is there any way you could help?

(+1)(-1)

Hi there and thank you for your kind words! If you got the game through a bundle (Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, Bundle for Palestinian Aid, Bundle for Ukraine) it won't come with a Steam key. If you bought the game separately, there should be a "Claim Key" button right next to the Download button.

(+4)(-1)

Aaah, that explains it, yeah I got it through a Bundle. I'll pay the game fully when its out of EA then, very impressed by this!

(+3)(-1)

Oh, just in case, you'll get access to all the updates anyway if you got it through a bundle, so don't feel pressured to buy it again!

(+1)(-1)

ever since i first played this game over a year ago, it's been stuck in my head. it's just so good -- the plot, the writing, the characters, the art. everything just comes together extremely effectively within the narrative. i found myself completely immersed in these characters and their lives and just ahh!! i genuinely have no words for how much i love this game and how excited i am to play it in full!

(+2)(-1)

This is such a good game, i really enjoyed playing it. The characters are really nice and fleshed out, as is the story. The combat system is simple but amazing. I would recommend this game to everyone who likes rpgs, its amazing!

(+1)

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

(+3)(-2)

I ain't played an RPG for years, but a friend said to try this - and so glad he did, I really enjoyed it !!

Aww, I'm really glad to hear that ♥!

(+3)

I really enjoyed this game. Just waiting for the last chapter :)

(+2)

Any idea when the game might be complete? I got it some time ago but was planning on waiting for everything to be done, so I don't need to play half of it and then halt progress until the next update

(+8)

Hi there! We aim to finish the game this year, but we haven't announced the date yet. We're doing our best to finish it soon and we can't wait to release the final chapter.

(+2)

Sweet, thanks for the response!

(+4)

Excellent game, can't wait for the next chapter! The art is fantastic, the story is great. I really like sniper mode, it's a fun addition and much less frustrating than getting smoke bombed and stun gunned in regular combat haha

War is a terrible thing, and it benefits no one. Good to see that reflected here. The characters are great, I care about each of them, here's hoping none of them are lost to the horrors of war, but hey, I'm bracing myself for the inevitable

If I uninstall it, will I retain my save file for the next update? Or will I have to play the whole thing again? Is there an export save button?

Thank you so much for your kind words! Save files are stored in: Users/<YourUser>/AppData/LocalLow/Bura/Long Gone Days

So I would suggest backing those files just in case. You will be able to continue the game using your current saves once we release the full version.
